[ Green climbs out of the screen without another word, crawling out onto the couch. When it's done, he doesn't pick up the phone and hold it out for Red to take like he usually does. Instead he just sits there, hands in his lap, eyes focused downward. ]
[Red's expression sinks a little as he observes Green's. He takes a seat next to him on the couch, throwing a gentle arm around his shoulder and giving it a little squeeze. There's really no one better to sit with in silence than Red, and if that's what Green needs, he's happy to give it to him.]
[ Green's posture is stiff, as always, but he leans his head on Red's shoulder somewhat. It's at an odd angle what with him being so tall, but it brings him some comfort to be held like this.
No one has ever really held him before. Not even Martha. ]
[As Green attempts to ease into the hug, Red strengthens it, giving the android a little squeeze. It doesn't even occur to Red that Green has never felt affection like this before. Red's happy to give it. Poor Green didn't deserve what happened to him, and while Red could be angry about the entire thing, he'd rather put his energy into trying to comfort his red-headed friend.]
[ Green frowns slightly, shaking his head where it rests on Red's shoulder. ] I don't know why this keeps happening.
[ He keeps trying to build relationships with people who see him as just a machine. First Martha, now Hux. They'd reacted differently but ultimately it was the same. He'd thought they saw him as he was-- as he wanted to be-- but they looked at him and saw something less. Something wrong. ]
[Red's heart sinks at Green's question, but he doesn't show it. Instead, he straightens up a bit in his seat and puts a hand on either one of Green's shoulders. He tries to make eye contact with him before he speaks, softly, but surely.] Of course.
[From the ground their comes a concerned little whimper.] Pi-ka-chu... [The little rat nudges Green's ankle with its head, ears back and expression soft, worried.]
He does to. [Red softly translates, glancing down to Pikachu. He didn't even have to use his power for that one.]
[ When Pikachu nudges at his foot, Green smiles down at him, patting the space on the sofa next to him like someone encouraging a dog to jump up. ]
He's very special, isn't he? [ Shifting the topic of conversation away from himself. Momentarily distracted by a cute pet. Which, really, was part of why he asked to come over. To distract himself. ]
[Red gives a weak smile, reaching over to give Pikachu a couple of scratches himself. If they're going to change the topic, Green picked a good one. Red looks him straight in the eye and nods, still smiling softly.] Best friend.
[Red tilts his head to the side a bit. Something suddenly occurs to him. He could just ask out loud, but we all know Red. He picks up his phone instead.]
